River Road Cabin

Location: Leavenworth, WA
Area: 2,050 sf

Located at the end of a long dirt road tracing the banks of the Wenatchee River through the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, the project site opens on to a sweeping view of the riparian corridor and Tunneltop Mountain in the distance. The plan was developed to accommodate two couples who would each have separate bedroom suites but share the main living space. The modified salt box roofline and timber frame structure and trusses are a nod to the historic barns of New England where both couples were raised. In a gesture of both sustainable building practices and placemaking, all of the timber and finish material has been harvested and milled on site.
